Fourth-graders design boats using DESCARTES software

Gilbert Intermediate School fourth-graders came to Iowa State University to see if the boats they designed using our engineering education software, DESCARTES would float across the Forker pool carrying freight.  

With the software DESCARTES, which is supported by the Department of Education SBIR program, students can virtually design any number of structures and vehicles and apply grade-appropriate math and science standards to do so. DESCARTES uses the same engineering platform found in all our products but with an easy-to-use interface perfect for students’ first experiences with engineering-based math and science inquiry.
